The checker
- The result is worked out in your browser, and your answers are never stored.
- We keep anonymous counts of which options are chosen and which results come up, so we know what to research next.
- Those counts cannot be tied to you. No account, no login, no saved state.
Email list
- Your address is passed to Buttondown, the mailing list provider, and stored there.
- You are sent a confirmation link first. If you do not click it, you are not added.
- Used only to send notices about changes to these rules. Never sold or shared.
- Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately.
Contact form
- Your name, email and message are sent by email to the site operator.
- Kept only to reply to you and act on corrections.
- Automated checks block spam submissions. They do not track or profile you.
Analytics and cookies
- No tracking cookies and no advertising trackers. Neither tool below stores anything on your device.
- Vercel Web Analytics counts page views. Cookieless, aggregate only: pages viewed, country, device type.
- PostHog records how the site is used: pages viewed, which checker options are chosen, which results appear, and which outside links are used.
- It also counts clicks that visibly do nothing — a sign a page is confusing. What is recorded is which element was clicked, never anything you type.
- How long a page stays open and how far down it people scroll are recorded too.
- PostHog events are anonymous. With nothing stored on your device, each visit is counted as a new visitor, and nothing links a visit to you.
- Contact messages and email signups are counted as events, but the message and the address are never attached.
Hosting
- Hosted on Vercel, which processes standard request logs including IP addresses.
