Packaging EPR in Slovakia

Reviewed 2026-08-28

Written for UK and Northern Ireland sellers. Based elsewhere in the EU? Some rules here — especially who must appoint a representative — can work the other way round for you. Check the sources before acting.

Threshold
100 kg of packaging a year. Under it you register, keep records and file one yearly report — no scheme contract and no Slovak representative. From 100 kg, both become compulsory.

Indicative range, not a quote

Registration is free. ENVI-PAK charges a flat €19.90 a quarter up to 500 kg; NATUR-PACK charges €100 to join with a €25 quarterly minimum. Per-kilogram rates run about 11 cents for paper and glass and 30 to 34 cents for plastics.

These are ENVI-PAK's, NATUR-PACK's and SEWA's published 2026 price lists, seen August 2026, VAT not included. Confirm before budgeting.

Things to watch out for

  • Register first, sell second: unregistered producers may not sell in Slovakia at all. Registration itself is free, and your scheme can file it for you.
  • The 100 kg relief is real and still current: under 100 kg of packaging a year you skip the scheme contract and the representative, but you still register, keep records and file the yearly report by 28 February.
  • Bringing packaged goods across the border and selling them in Slovakia makes you the producer. The law says so, and the schemes confirm the foreign supplier carries the duty.
  • Over 100 kg, every foreign seller needs a representative established in Slovakia — a base elsewhere in the EU does not help — plus a scheme contract. Packaging that ends up in household waste cannot be handled alone.
  • Over 100 kg, reporting is quarterly to your scheme within about 10 days of quarter end, and the scheme files the yearly ministry report for you.
  • Whether the 100 kg relief survives the EU rules is not settled: the EU text has no such line, and Slovakia had not amended its act by August 2026. Check back before relying on it for the long term.
  • Fee tables from before 2026 are stale — all three schemes issued new price lists from 1 January 2026.
