Packaging EPR in Malta

Threshold
100 kg of packaging a year. At or under that, you send ERA a declaration form instead of registering and joining a scheme.

Things to watch out for

  • One of the friendlier countries for very small sellers: under 100 kg a year, a yearly declaration form to ERA is all that is asked.
  • Over 100 kg, you register with ERA and then either join GreenPak or Green MT, or handle recovery yourself.
  • GreenPak also runs schemes for electricals and batteries, so one membership can cover more than packaging.
  • If you are not based in Malta, expect to need a representative there.
  • The law is the Waste Management (Packaging and Packaging Waste) Regulations, S.L. 549.43.
