Threshold
No exemption — the often-quoted 2 tonne let-off is not in the law. What exists is a cheap flat band: under 1 tonne of packaging a year, the published fee is €100 a year.

Indicative range, not a quote

Joining costs €50 once. Under 1 tonne a year the flat fee is €100 a year, and 1 to 2 tonnes is €142.50. Per-tonne rates for bigger senders run from about €12 for wood up to €149 for the hardest household packaging.

Things to watch out for

  • Register first, sell second. There is no size exemption, only the cheap under-1-tonne band.
  • Selling from abroad to Cypriot customers counts, and the EU rules since 12 August 2026 expect a representative based in Cyprus to hold the duties. Ask Green Dot how it handles foreign sellers — its published pages do not say.
  • One scheme: Green Dot Cyprus is the only licensed collective system. The alternative, running your own approved take-back system, is not realistic for a parcel seller.
  • Declare last year's packaging by the end of February. Guides saying 31 March have mixed this up with a different waste report.
  • Printing the Green Dot symbol on packaging has been voluntary since May 2021 — you do not have to mark packaging with it.
  • There is no Cypriot producer portal to register on yet. The EU-wide register duty is waiting on an EU implementing act, so scheme membership is the route for now.
